Other Goals
I love the 500 words a day challenge, and I'm working on building consistency, as well as not beating myself up if I miss a day. I'm finding it's a little easier to knock out my 500 words before I start work as part of my morning routine, but on the weekends when my schedule is a little looser, I struggle to get back here to write.
Today (Sunday) with a lot of things I want to get done to set myself up for a busy week ahead (lots of work deadlines + the start of virtual school for 1st and 12th grades). I'm using my weekly habit reflection in conjunction with my writing habit. So here's a little peek into some of my other goals and self work I'm doing! We're working on learning to let go of perfectionist habits, and have daily homework of 'Half-Assing' something we would otherwise struggle to do or feel like we could only do "Perfectly" for it to count.
Week of August 10 - 16 Habit Reflection: What was your goal for the week?
Week 2 of working imperfectly towards my goals and habits for the month: Reassess and scale my goals and habits to the right level. Core4 habits needing some work: Snacks / 4th Meal / Movement+ (Yoga).
How successful were you in achieving your goal? What did you learn this week?
I love that I don’t have to be perfect to feel accomplished in this goal. I can’t say I was laser focused on this goal all week, but what I CAN say, is that I continued forward progress. I didn’t do the homework everyday, but I was mindful of the half assing, and just taking forward steps towards goals. My hunger/satiety are coming much more easily, and imperfectly, and I’m really happy with how relaxed and content I feel about this mindfulness around food.
I also identified that this month is going to be a time to focus on Charlie (my son, starting 1st grade) and Annabelle (my niece who lives with me, starting her senior year in HS) as we all prepare for the start of virtual school and whatever surprises that may bring. I do feel I was able to do a good job of balancing my work demands, my self care, and being very present with them in preparations for school and fun times with them (hiking in the mountains and movie nights)!
What helped you to be successful? Not trying to white knuckle through everything. Being vocal about asking for help.
What hindered your success? Wanting to be able to do ALLTHETHINGS. Wanting to add on MORE MORE MORE to my currently full load of goals. It’s something I’m working on, prioritizing, saying no, knowing it may not be the right time for everything, even if I regularly feel like I can do anything I set my mind to - something has to give in that scenario.
What is your goal for next week? Will you do anything differently? What will help you be successful?
I really like this imperfect action goal, and I also want to make sure I’m tweaking it to keep it relevant, and exciting enough to stick with. The school year starts this week, so I’m going to need to spend my time in the moment. In each and every moment. In order to have the best outcomes. I’ve also been working on my morning routine and habits. I think shifting my focus on my morning routine and building that up slowly, practicing consistency to start off my day in alignment with my "best self" day. I think this week I’m going to focus on not hitting snooze in the mornings. With the busy week ahead, a small action feels the most accomplishable (that’s a word, right?).
